Waste not fresh tears over old griefs.--Euripides

A Fun Hobby becomes an Obsession

As with most fathers and families, photographs are a part of everyday life when you treasure every moment with your family. As time passed, spectacular scenes that moved me became a personal passion. After relocating to one of the more scenic counties in California, friends started complimenting the photos of the area that I shot and e-mailed to them. Their enjoyment of these has motivated me to offer them to others for their enjoyment as well. Carpe Diem!

Siskiyou County, California is a historic gold mining area, with scenic reminders of that history nearly everywhere.

The California-Oregon Stage Road, operating from 1851 to 1886
passed through this area. Memories of it are inspired by the remains of the Hotel Callahan (1852) and Outlaw Rock where the last recorded stagecoach robbery took place in the late 1800's. Nearly everywhere are reminders of that past; from an old ore cart & mining pan in a front yard, to old wagons, miner's cabins, miner's footbridges across major rivers, and many buildings still in use for over a century.

Opportunities Galore!

This history and the scenic beauty of the area, which include the infamous Mount Shasta at 14, 162', offer a photographer tremendous opportunities to enjoy his hobby, impress his friends and perhaps even provide a little income for an old retired guy like me.
